Rubén Blanco

Rubén Blanco's journey is that of a mature professional who has experienced it all. A prodigious talent at Celta Vigo, where he became the youngest goalkeeper in the club's history to reach 100 matches, he also went through the frustration of losing his starting position. This experience has forged a man of duty. His decision to join OM, initially on loan and then permanently, reflects his commitment to the project and his intelligence, accepting a supporting role in service of the team.  

On the field, Blanco is the very definition of reliability. Calm, with a good sense of positioning, he is not spectacular but he gets the job done. During his rare appearances in the Olympian jersey (12 in total), he always stepped up, without making waves. His profile is less that of the sweeper-keeper that De Zerbi favors and more of the "classic" goalkeeper, solid on his feet and reassuring for his defense.  

For us, the supporters, Rubén Blanco inspires respect. We know he won't be the star, but we appreciate his professionalism and impeccable attitude. He represents a form of security. In a squad built around a bold and risky playing philosophy, he is the safety net, the loyal soldier we can count on in difficult times. For the 2025/26 season, with the schedule burdened by the Champions League, his role as number 3 will be crucial. He is not there to play 30 matches, but to provide depth, serenity in training, and stability in the locker room. His value is not measured in minutes on the field, but in peace of mind for the coach and his teammates. He is the guardian of the group's balance.
