The transfer window is still buzzing! According to Fabrizio Romano, Emerson Palmieri, the Italian international from West Ham who has also played for Lyon and Chelsea, has agreed personal terms with OM. A decisive step for a key position, left-back, left vacant since Quentin Merlin’s departure to Rennes.

Still some details to sort out

Let’s be clear: nothing has been signed yet. While the player has already given the green light, West Ham and OM have not yet reached a definitive agreement. Negotiations are ongoing, but the fact that Palmieri has opted for the Vélodrome sends a strong signal.

An experienced addition

At 31, Palmieri has plenty of experience: Euro 2021 champion with Italy, winner of the Europa League and the Champions League with Chelsea, used to the big occasions. His versatility (left-back or left wing-back) fits perfectly with Roberto De Zerbi’s demands, as he looks for a reliable player to stabilize his defense.

What’s next in the transfer window

With Hamed Junior Traoré already signed and the Ordoñez and Aguerd deals still on the table, Longoria and Benatia are pressing ahead with their defensive rebuild. If the agreement with West Ham is confirmed, OM will have pulled off another smart move by bringing in an experienced player capable of raising the level as soon as this season.
