OM transfer market: First bid rejected for Florentino Luís!

OM’s loan + buy option bid for Florentino Luís rejected by Benfica. Lisbon demands more money. A transfer showdown looms for the key midfielder!

Pablo Longoria and Mehdi Benatia want to give Roberto De Zerbi a true ball-winning midfielder, and the target is Florentino Luís. But first attempt, first rejection: Benfica didn’t like the idea of a loan with an obligation to buy. To them, their 25-year-old midfielder is worth far more than that.

Why Benfica said no

A product of the club academy, Florentino is seen as a key figure in Lisbon. According to A Bola, the Portuguese board consider Marseille’s offer too low, and they don’t want to “sell off” a player who logged 45 games last season, including many European ties. Clear message: to move forward, they’ll need stronger arguments—and more euros.

A profile that fits OM

If De Zerbi wants him, there’s a reason. Florentino is known for his defensive work rate, his ability to win the ball back, and to bring balance. In short, the player we’ve been looking for since the start of the window to stabilize our midfield. With a congested schedule and the Champions League coming up, it’s a strategic reinforcement.

The negotiation game

No question of giving up: OM are staying on the case. Benfica, for their part, are keeping the door ajar… but are demanding a real financial effort. Either a straight transfer, or a loan with a much higher obligation to buy. It will all be decided in the coming days at the negotiating table.

And you, Team OM?

So, should we get out the checkbook for Florentino Luís? Is he the profile we absolutely need, or should we move on to another target if Benfica won’t budge? Drop your thoughts in the comments, because this deal could well shape our season!
