OM transfer market: Florentino Luís, tight battle with Roma and Burnley!

Florentino Luís interests OM, but Benfica wants more, while Roma and Burnley join the race. A true European duel for a midfielder built to stabilize our squad.

Let’s be honest: for weeks now, the heart of OM’s game has been a work in progress. Rabiot’s forced departure, the false hope with Ceballos… and now Florentino Luís’s name is resurfacing. With 45 matches played last season in a Benfica shirt, the 25-year-old Portuguese showed a consistency and solidity that make you dream. We’re talking about a true No. 6, able to break up transitions, play out cleanly, and provide the balance OM have been chasing for years. Honestly, it fits the need perfectly.

Benfica say no, but the door is still ajar

According to the Portuguese press, our first offer – a loan with a mandatory purchase option – was flatly rejected. Benfica don’t want to let one of their key men go on the cheap. But note: the Lisbon club isn’t closing the door on a departure; they just want more financial guarantees. In other words, if Pablo Longoria and Mehdi Benatia really want to bring him in, they’ll need to put a few more euros on the table.

Competition joins the fray: Roma and Burnley circling

Because of course, we’re not alone on this one. Roma, already interested earlier this summer, could come back in for him if Pellegrini leaves. Burnley, for their part, are keeping a close eye on the situation. And when several clubs are involved, the bidding goes up… Can OM afford to keep pace? That’s the big question with two days left in the window.

Financial risk or genuine strategic masterstroke?

We all know it: going after a Benfica mainstay in the home stretch of the window is bound to be expensive. But in footballing terms, Florentino could be exactly the player who stabilizes our midfield. The question is whether the gamble is worth the investment, or whether this deal will suck up too much energy and budget compared to other needs.

Over to you, Team OM!

So, folks: Florentino Luís — should we go for it, even with the competition and financial risks, or keep our powder dry for other targets? Is he the man who can transform our midfield, or a bad idea dressed up as a good one at this stage of the window? Fire away in the comments — we want to know what you think
