OM Transfer News: Maupay to Genoa, another helping hand from our “friendly club”?
Genoa pushing for Neal Maupay! After Strootman, Malinovskyi & Vitinha, the Rossoblù ready to help OM again. €5m deal on the table?
Let’s be honest: whenever we have a player we want to move on from, there’s always a quick phone call to Genoa. And, oddly enough, it often works! In recent seasons, the Rossoblù have taken Kevin Strootman, Ruslan Malinovskyi, and even Vitinha off our hands. Tricky cases, but they found a way out thanks to the Italian club. So when we see Genoa renewing their pursuit of Neal Maupay, we almost smile: another helping hand from this "friendly club."
Maupay, blocked and with no future at OM
Signed in a complicated context, Neal Maupay never really found his place at the Vélodrome. With Aubameyang, Vaz, and Gouiri ahead of him, the French striker has virtually no room left to earn minutes in the rotation. Result: he’s become unwanted, and OM are looking for a way out before the end of the transfer window.
Genoa keep pushing
According to the Gazzetta, Genoa haven’t given up. The Italian club are still in talks and hope to convince OM to let Maupay go. Marseille, for their part, are waiting for an offer around €5 million. After the agreement reached with Cremonese for Moumbagna, a Maupay departure would free up a bit more financial room to finalize other arrivals De Zerbi wants.
A move that would suit everyone
For OM, it would be a chance to turn the Maupay page cleanly, without a major loss, while consolidating the recruitment strategy. For Genoa, it’s the opportunity to bring in an experienced striker, well accustomed to the demands of Ligue 1 and the Premier League. And for Maupay, finally, it would be a chance to get his career back on track at a club that believes in him.
So, Team OM: what do you think of this new helping hand from Genoa? Would Maupay’s departure be enough to free up our room to maneuver, or just one more symbol of this special relationship between the two clubs?
