A Shy Then Combative OM
Speaking to Canal+, Roberto De Zerbi did not hide his bitterness:
“We played a good match, maybe too timid at the start. After the red card, I would have liked us to take more risks, to do more to win.”
The Italian coach points to a team still finding its rhythm: new players, uneven fitness levels, and a first Champions League appearance for several key players. Despite this, his OM stood up to Real, proof that the foundations are there.
“Nothing Positive” according to RDZ
When asked what he took away from this night in Madrid, the answer was blunt:
“We lost, so there’s nothing positive. We can and must play better.”
No excuses, even if Aguerd’s absence weighed heavily and the team’s attacking play lacked ambition at 11 versus 10. The message is clear: results come first, and OM has to learn quickly.
Paris Already in Sight
The coach immediately turned his attention to the next clash:
“I’m happy to be playing Paris on Sunday. It’s important to get used to this kind of game, it builds motivation and character.”
OM therefore has no time to dwell. The clash against PSG at the Orange Vélodrome promises to be fiery, and this night in Madrid will serve as a dress rehearsal.
A frustrated but ambitious OM. The challenge was steep, but this defeat mostly serves as a reminder that with more personality and precision, Marseille can aim higher. On Sunday, the Vel’ is already waiting for a reaction.
