Relaunched Negotiations: Is OM Ready to Invest in Ordóñez?
Dramatic twist in the transfer window: just when we thought Joel Ordóñez was out of reach, OM restarts negotiations with Bruges. Should we bet everything on this promising defender?
While we thought the Joel Ordóñez case was closed, here comes our OM putting a coin back in the machine and rekindling discussions with Bruges. What do you think about it? The end of the saga is still far from being written...
Negotiations resume: OM plays it tight
What has been the sticking point so far isn’t capricious: 30 million euros is something to think about. You can understand why Pablo Longoria wouldn't want to write a blank check, especially with the club's finances being watched like a hawk. But Bruges, on their end, is already starting to look for a replacement for Ordóñez… You see what that means? Neither club is closing the door, and the player, he's already ready to land at the Old Port.
A profile that fits De Zerbi's project?
Ordóñez isn’t just anyone: 21 years old, eight caps for Ecuador, over 80 matches in two seasons with Bruges… For a central defender, that's impressive. Moreover, he has already shown offensive qualities – four goals, two assists – and he fits De Zerbi's project: young, dynamic, with great potential for improvement. So, should we take the plunge, even if it means breaking the bank?
A financially risky gamble?
30 million euros for a defender is almost unprecedented for us (thanks to Igor Paixão for the example). It might seem expensive, especially if we fail. But on the other hand, didn’t we all complain about our defense last year? Doesn't OM need to invest heavily to aim higher? If Ordóñez excels, we may have a future star… But if it falls apart, it could ruin the transfer window and the finances.
And you, are you excited?
So Olympians, what would you do in Longoria's place? Do we spend the 30 million on Ordóñez or look for other options? Is it really the priority to strengthen the team? Tell us everything in the comments, we want your opinions and analyses! We are following the case very closely, and we will talk about it again as soon as there are any updates.
