Ismaël Koné on his way out: A chapter closes at OM?

OM demands €15M for Ismaël Koné, pushed towards the exit after a disappointing stint. Roma rushes in: a good deal for Marseille or a too hasty sale?

Reporter

We had sensed it coming for a few weeks, but now it’s becoming serious: Ismaël Koné has never been this close to leaving our OM. Despite his extension until 2029, the Canadian is among the six players left at home during the training camp. A sign that doesn’t lie… So, is it just a sporting choice or a real desire to turn the page? Tell us what you think in the comments!

Roma goes on the offensive: a real good opportunity for OM?

According to several reliable sources in Italy (La Gazzetta, Il Messaggero), Roma is not letting Koné out of their sight. Paredes’ departure from their squad has opened the door, and their sports director, Massara, who knows the player well from Rennes, is leading the charge. A transfer is being discussed between 12 and 15 million euros. For OM, that’s quite acceptable considering the initial investment, right? But would you sell him at this price or try to get a little more?

Loan, cash transfer, or aborted exchange: what are the consequences for the club?

Two options on the table: either a loan with an option to buy, or a “cash” transfer. From our side, we seem open to both scenarios, as long as the finances follow. But beware: a loan is always risky, especially if the player excels elsewhere and we no longer have control... Moreover, the rumor of an exchange with Ndicka is already shelved, too much value discrepancy according to both clubs. Would you have taken the chance or not?

Koné, a failure or a necessary evil?

As a reminder, Koné is coming off a disappointing loan at Rennes and never really convinced De Zerbi. We’re all a bit disappointed by the unrealized potential, but in the current context and with the new cycle starting, wouldn’t it be better to move on? The locker room needs clarity, and every spot counts for rebuilding. Would we not make a good move by reinvesting the money in a profile that fits the game plan more?

And now, what do we do?

The ball is clearly in Longoria’s court. Take the cash, bet on a well-structured loan, or try to revive Koné in another project? We want your opinion, friends! Is it the right decision to let Koné go now, and above all, who do you see replacing him in the midfield? We’re waiting for your reactions: let’s debate together like at the counter!
