L'OM step up their transfer business: Tsimikas in their sights

After the hiccup at Rennes, OM hit back: Longoria accelerates, left flank the priority and Tsimikas the No. 1 target. A profile tailor-made for De Zerbi: operation fightback launched.

OM shaken but quick to respond: what transfer window after the storm?

We didn’t see the start of the 2025–2026 season coming like this. Losing to Rennes, who played with ten men for more than an hour, stings. All that fine summer preparation already feels far away and, behind the scenes, it’s a full-on storm. You’ve all heard about the fight between Jonathan Rowe and Adrien Rabiot? Result: both have been sidelined and put on the transfer list. Quite the atmosphere at La Commanderie... What do we make of it, honestly? Tell us in the comments!

The left flank: top priority and urgent project

But with our OM, we never give up. We rebuild, we adapt, and above all we look to shore up what’s lacking. And everyone saw it: the big issue is the left side of the defense. Since Quentin Merlin left, we’ve only got Ulisses Garcia as a natural left-back. Honestly, playing a whole season with just one player in that position is asking for disaster. You agree, right?

Tsimikas, the smart move this window?

That’s where Kostas Tsimikas’s name has started to circulate—and not just a little. The 29-year-old Greek full-back is coming off a mixed season at Liverpool. He got minutes, sure, but stayed in Robertson’s shadow. And with Milos Kerkez arriving for 50 million, he’s flat-out become the Reds’ third choice. For a player with 41 caps for Greece, that’s a tough one to swallow. In other words, he’s open to a move.

So, would Tsimikas be the right fit for our OM? On paper, he’s got everything to slot into De Zerbi’s project: technical, attack-minded, able to repeat his runs; he fits the possession game and the underlaps into tight spaces our Italian coach loves. It remains to be seen whether we can convince the player and Liverpool (bearing in mind the English club shouldn’t be too demanding given the contract situation). What do you think? Do you see him making his mark here?

Bold choices, risks to manage

By the way, let’s not forget that the likely departures of Rowe and Rabiot could leave holes elsewhere in the squad. We can’t afford to cobble things together, especially with such a heavy schedule. Signing Tsimikas would send a clear message: we don’t let anything slide and we’re looking to fix our weaknesses fast. But careful, it will all depend on the fee and wages. We know the drill, folks: we also have to deal with that famous "Financial Fair Play".

Pablo Longoria and Medhi Benatia are fighting on all fronts. You can tell every move is under the microscope, and the window is far from over. In your view, which other positions should be strengthened first? Shall we talk it over in the comments?
