With a week to go before the end of the transfer window, our Olympique de Marseille might be pulling off a major coup. According to Fabrizio Romano, confirmed by RMC Sport, talks are underway with Real Madrid to bring in Dani Ceballos on loan with an option to buy. Yes, folks, you read that right: Ceballos, 29, a technically gifted midfielder and a playmaker at heart, could be arriving at the Vélodrome. De Zerbi loves him: mobility, vision, intelligence under pressure… everything he wants in his football.

Rabiot up in the air: replacement or complement?

The burning question, of course, is: Ceballos to replace Rabiot, or to play alongside him? The Adrien Rabiot saga just won’t end. After the altercation with Rowe, Longoria and Benatia seemed determined to sell him. But on Saturday, De Zerbi extended an unexpected olive branch to his midfielder. So, if Rabiot leaves in the next eight days, Ceballos would be the ideal successor. If he stays, you can imagine a tantalizing partnership… but is that financially realistic?

Ceballos at Real: sidelined talent

At Real Madrid, Ceballos has been through it all: the promise, loans to Arsenal, then an upswing last year under Ancelotti. But this season, the arrival of Xabi Alonso has reshuffled the deck. In 8 games (Club World Cup + La Liga), the Spanish midfielder has had only 75 minutes of action. Behind Arda Güler in the pecking order, he’s growing impatient and considering a fresh start. OM want to seize the opportunity.

Transfer window under pressure: bold gamble

The timing is tight: eight days to wrap everything up. OM have already spent big this summer, but targeting Ceballos shows renewed ambition. Marseille want to get back into the Champions League and, to do that, they need leaders capable of raising the level. But beware the risks: hefty wages, a need to adapt quickly, and uncertainty around the Rabiot situation.

Over to you, OM family!

So, what do you think? Ceballos at the Vélodrome, masterstroke or risky bet? Should we still bet on a reconciliation with Rabiot, or turn the page for good? Drop your takes, predictions and rants in the comments — because this transfer window is ours too!
