The New "Third" Jersey of OM: Analysis and Opinion
What Do We Think of This New "Third" Jersey? My Immediate Thoughts!
Well, friends, a slightly lighter topic today, but one that still gets people talking: the new "Third" jersey for the 2025-2026 season. Puma has released the beast and, as usual, it's dividing opinions. It's kind of our tradition in Marseille; we never agree, and that's what makes it great!
So, let's break it down together. We're starting with a royal blue base. It's a color we know, one that has history with the club. So far, no surprises. But where it gets... interesting, is the addition of these light blue "pixels" creating a sort of digital pattern. Honestly, the first time I saw it, I thought: "What's this thing? It looks like a display bug on my TV!"
And then, there's the touch of fluorescent yellow. And here, watch out, they didn't hold back. The Puma logo, the OM crest, the European champion star (the one and only!), and even the motto "Droit au But" in the collar... all in neon. It's a bold choice. Very bold. Maybe a little too much?
My opinion, if you want it, is that I'm torn. The home jersey, white and clean, is a masterclass. Untouchable. The away jersey, with its inspirations from the Érevine cove, is a pure marvel, a magnificent tribute to our region. And this third jersey... it comes in behind. Far behind. It has the merit of trying something, of not being boring. But between us, I can't see myself going to the Vélodrome with it. It's a bit "training shirt", maybe a bit too modern. The video talking about it gave it a 6.5/10, and I think I quite agree. It's average, but it doesn't make you dream.
But a jersey is not just a piece of fabric. It's what it represents. And deep down, we know very well that if we score a goal in the 92nd minute against Paris with this jersey on our shoulders, it will instantly become the most beautiful jersey in the club's history! That's the magic of football. Its beauty depends on the emotions we associate with it.
So there you have it, I'm curious to hear your thoughts. How do you find it? Is it a "top" or a "flop"? Are you going to give in and buy it, or are you keeping your money for the home jersey? Let's discuss it in the comments, I'm interested to know what the community thinks! Go OM!
