OM: Pavard targeted to strengthen the defense?
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Marseille club has shown interest in the Inter Milan defender. Nothing official, no offer on the table yet, but the rumors make the heart of the Vélodrome beat a bit stronger.
Fierce competition, but a player tempted by Ligue 1
OM is obviously not alone in this matter. Lille, LOSC, is already in the running, as are Galatasaray and a Saudi club (Neom) that wants to attract anything that shines. But according to information from Italy, Pavard would not be particularly enthusiastic about exile in Saudi Arabia. The Marseille project, on the other hand, could have its arguments, even if the competition from Lille should not be overlooked. So, do you think we have a chance against these teams?
The financial headache and the risks of the case
Well, we're not going to lie, the Pavard case is no formality. Inter is expecting between 18 and 20 million euros, a hefty sum for our OM, especially without a prior sale. Added to this is the player's salary, which he currently earns net what Rabiot earns gross in Marseille! We are far from the ideal economic model for a club that also wants to invest in the future and hope for a resale.
Another issue: at this price, Pavard would not represent a significant resale value, unlike younger profiles like Ordonez. As a result, the leaders are thinking carefully before embarking. In your opinion, is a "Pavard move" worth the risk, or is it better to invest elsewhere?
Sportingly, a real value-added for the defense?
On the field, nobody doubts it: Pavard brings experience, rigor, and can stabilize our backline, a sector where OM clearly seeks to strengthen this summer. His versatility, his experience with the French team, is tempting. But should we break the bank for a player who has already won it all? Or should we rather bet on prospects like Solet or a promising young player?
And now, what do we do?
As I write these lines, OM has not yet made anything official. But the displayed interest shows that we are aiming high, and that feels good. Everything will depend on sales, opportunities (a loan with a mandatory purchase option, perhaps?) and the player's willingness, who is waiting to see if our project holds up.
So, friends, what do you think? Should we go for Pavard, even if it means taking financial risks? Or should we save our money for other profiles and reinforce the defense intelligently? Tell us everything in the comments, your opinion counts!
