OM Transfer Window — Harit, Maupay, Lirola… exits still possible (or not)
The European window is closed, but not everywhere. OM still hopes to offload Harit and Lirola… while Maupay refuses to move and wants to fight for his place.
Curtain down in Europe, but not elsewhere
The summer window closed at 8 p.m. on September 1 in the five major European leagues, Ligue 1 included. A new twist, since in recent seasons deals often went through until 11 p.m. or midnight. Result: in France, no more moves are possible… except for free agents or via the “joker” rule, a rarely used option (remember Valentin Rongier in 2019).
Windows still open
Abroad, though, the transfer market is still in full swing. Several leagues still offer windows to recruit:
- Europe: Netherlands (until September 2), Belgium (8), Switzerland (9), Saudi Arabia (11), Greece, Turkey and Russia (12).
- Americas & Asia: Brazil (September 3), Mexico (13), Qatar (16).
Plenty of potential destinations for the players OM are trying to move on.
Harit and Lirola on the list
Among the hot topics: Amine Harit and Pol Lirola, clearly out of Roberto De Zerbi’s plans. Turkey and Qatar look like the most plausible avenues, as those markets have already welcomed many Ligue 1 players in recent years. OM’s hierarchy is watching these opportunities closely, hoping to lighten a squad that’s still too large.
Maupay says no to everything
Neal Maupay is a different case. According to Mordu2OM (relayed by AfterFoot), the striker flatly refuses to leave. Demoted too quickly for his liking, he took it very badly and still hopes to win back playing time as the season goes on. Result: OM are stuck with a player who isn’t part of the plans but has no intention of leaving. A real thorn in the side for Longoria and Benatia.
🙅 Neal Maupay 🇫🇷 does NOT want to leave and REFUSES EVERYTHING that’s put to him!

Key dates to watch
For supporters who like to follow the saga to the very end, here are the next dates:
- September 2: Netherlands
- September 3: Brazil
- September 5: Austria
- September 8: Belgium
- September 9: Switzerland
- September 11: Saudi Arabia
- September 12: Greece, Turkey, Russia
- September 13: Mexico
- September 16: Qatar (final opportunity)
After those dates, only the free-agent route will remain… and needless to say, that limits the options.
Conclusion — A transfer window that’s not completely over
The European transfer window is closed, but for OM, not everything is settled. Harit and Lirola could still head abroad, Maupay is digging in, and the board are looking to trim the squad before turning the page. In Marseille, even when the window is shut, the transfer saga is never truly over…
