Transfer Market OM: Ordoñez says no to England, Marseille still in pole position!
Ordoñez only wants OM! The Bruges defender rejected Premier League approaches and is pushing to join De Zerbi. Marseille must now convince the Belgians.
The Joël Ordoñez saga continues to keep us on the edge of our seats. At 21, the Ecuadorian defender from Club Bruges has a clear goal: to wear the OM jersey. According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Ordoñez has said no to Premier League approaches (including Crystal Palace) to focus all his energy on a move to Marseille. A real declaration of love for Roberto De Zerbi’s project!
Bruges still tough in negotiations
Obviously, nothing is ever simple in a transfer window… Bruges, qualified for the Champions League group stage, has no desire to part with its gems. The club’s executive director, Bob Madou, has made it loud and clear: the idea is to keep the current squad to benefit from the European showcase. And just to start talking, the Belgians are asking for €40m. No less.
OM remain determined
For his part, Pablo Longoria isn’t letting up. Along with Mehdi Benatia, he keeps pushing to bring the price down. The player wants Marseille, the club wants the player: it remains to be seen whether Bruges will accept a more flexible structure (installments, add-ons) or whether a bidding war will win out. Worth noting that a Saudi club, Neom SC, has already offered €32m + €8m in bonuses… but Ordoñez remains set on OM.
A long-awaited reinforcement in defense
As we know, strengthening the defense is an absolute priority after last season’s weaknesses. With Ordoñez, OM would be betting on a young, powerful profile already experienced at the top level. In De Zerbi’s system, he could quickly establish himself as a mainstay in the making, alongside Medina and Egan-Riley.
So, OM Team: should Longoria break the bank for Ordoñez, or keep some powder dry for other deals? We’re waiting for your thoughts in the comments!
