Zhegrova: Stop or Go? Létang Cools Juventus, OM at a Crossroads
Létang insists: "no deal" for Zhegrova. Lille are holding firm, Juve are biding their time. Should OM make another push or move on? Over to you, supporters!
He’s been coming up in all our transfer-market discussions for weeks now. Edon Zhegrova, the silky-footed Kosovar winger, is firing up OM supporters’ imaginations. His technique, his speed, his ability to beat his man… it’s hard not to picture him tearing up a flank at the Vélodrome. But this Friday, a cold shower: Olivier Létang, the LOSC president, spoke out. Clear, blunt, precise:
“There’s no agreement at all.”
Forget Juventus, who already seemed to be on the case, and forget the rumors of an imminent exit. Lille are locking it down. For now.
Why is OM drooling over Zhegrova?
Let’s be honest: Zhegrova is exactly the profile Roberto De Zerbi is looking for. A player capable of breaking lines on his own, bringing unpredictability to the game, and above all offering that extra bit of magic that sometimes goes missing in our attacking play. With a coach who preaches movement and creativity, the idea of Zhegrova in an OM shirt is enough to set pulses racing.
But be careful: the player is coming back from an injury. No competitive match since last December. So, genius gamble or too risky a bet?
Lille close the door… only to open it wider?
On one hand, Létang is locking it down: Zhegrova is a Lille player and should remain so. On the other, he acknowledges discussions with Damien Comolli on the Juventus side. Translation for transfer-market regulars: nothing is set in stone. We know the tune: a good offer, a player pushing, and positions change. Is Lille really being firm… or playing for time to drive up the bids?
And for OM, what’s the strategy?
On the Marseille side, opinions are split. Sport-wise, it’s hard to say no to a player who, once back in shape, can transform our attacks. But financially? Is it reasonable to splash out on a profile coming off a long layoff, when the team also needs a left-back, a center-back, and balance in midfield?
At a time when every euro counts, the temptation is strong, but the risk is real. Some fans are already dreaming of an OM with Zhegrova, others remind us it might be better to back academy youngsters or explore other avenues.
Should we go all in and take a swing at Zhegrova, even if it means waiting until the last day of the window? Or should we turn the page and keep our ammo to strengthen other areas?
The debate is open. One thing is certain: this saga is not done making noise. As always at OM, there’s the pitch… and there’s the passion. And we’ll be there to thrill, debate, and dream.
