For De Zerbi, dominating is no longer enough: if OM wants to become a great team, it will have to show more character, more desire, and be ruthless in front of the goal.

What is your analysis of the match?

Roberto De Zerbi: We had many chances, but we didn't score. Then, we conceded a stupid goal. As I said yesterday in the press conference, previous matches count for nothing. It's a defeat we need to learn from: if we think we are better than we are and goals fall from the sky, then we have understood nothing.

What was your reaction to Adrien Rabiot's position as number 10? And what do you think of his performance against Rennes?

R.D.Z.: Rabiot has always played in that position with me. It is true that when they were reduced to ten, there was even less space in the area. He moved well, sometimes to the right, sometimes to the left. It wasn't his best performance, but it's not because of him that we didn't win. We just need more bite, cynicism, desire, and commitment. Goals don't fall from the sky; you have to go get them.

What bothers you the most tonight? Not keeping the 0-0 or conceding that stupid goal?

R.D.Z.: What really bothered me was conceding that goal. We did everything to score; sometimes it goes in, sometimes it doesn't. We made mistakes in finishing, but above all, we shouldn't even risk conceding that kind of goal.

What message did you send to your players after this match? Did the walls shake?

R.D.Z.: No one shook the locker room. In football, what you did yesterday doesn't count today. The next match will always start at 0-0. To stay in Marseille, the most important quality is balance: always remain at the same level of motivation, humility, work, and sacrifice. If we alternate too much between euphoria and relaxation, we cannot progress. Tonight, we could have won given the chances created, but to be a great team, you have to do more.

Do you think your team lacked personality?

R.D.Z.: No, I think we had the personality to play. But we weren't at the level of ambition, hunger, and toughness shown against Aston Villa. Even if we had won tonight, I would have given the same speech: to aim high, you have to maintain this level of demand constantly.
