OM: Jonathan Rowe transferred to Bologna for €19.5m
The news has just dropped and this time it’s for real: Jonathan Rowe is leaving OM to head to Bologna. We’re talking about a deal that’s nearly wrapped up at €19.5m, bonuses included, with a little cherry on top: a 10% sell-on for us.
A mixed spell on the Canebière
Arriving last summer from Norwich City for around €14.5m, Rowe quickly won over plenty of supporters with his bursts of pace and directness. But let’s be honest, he never really managed to string performances together! Between flashes of brilliance and dry spells, it was a tricky season. And the recent altercation with Adrien Rabiot certainly didn’t help his integration into the squad.

Financially, a deal that looks like smart management
Quietly, this transfer is also a real boost for the club’s finances. We paid €14.5m, we’re selling for €19.5m (with bonuses): that’s a profit, and in these belt-tightening times, it’s not nothing. Especially since we keep 10% of any future sale… Who knows, maybe he’ll explode in Serie A and we’ll pocket a bit more cash?
But you—would you have tried to reboot him under De Zerbi, or was it doomed from the start after his stop-start season? We’re waiting for your take, as usual!
What sporting impact going forward?
On the pitch, it’s clearly one fewer option out wide. But with this departure, the board can push on with other attacking targets to strengthen the squad. We know De Zerbi wants fresh blood up front, so in your view: who replaces Rowe? Another explosive profile like him, or a safe bet from Ligue 1?
Don’t hesitate to drop your predictions and transfer wishes! Let’s debate it together, as always, because OM is, above all, a story of passion and sharing.
