Zhegrova to OM: Major Turnaround or Just a Bluff?

Dramatic turn of events in the Zhegrova file: while he was headed straight for OM, LOSC might ultimately retain him. Has the priority vanished or is it just a bluff?

Reporter

We've been talking about it for weeks in our WhatsApp group and on social media: Edon Zhegrova, that famous LOSC winger, had a lot of people on the OM side drooling. But now the tide is turning! This Friday, Lille president Olivier Létang hinted at a press conference that the Kosovar might ultimately stay in the North and rejoin the pro group. So, is our dream shattered, or is it just a bluff? Let's break it all down together.

A series full of twists

At the start of the transfer window, everything pointed to Zhegrova, who was injured last season and sidelined this summer, being on his way out. OM had sensed a great opportunity, especially with Timothy Weah ready to play the secret agent to bring him to us. But since then, Lille has signed some heavyweights (Giroud, Correira, Broholm) and seems less eager to sell. And Létang said it bluntly: “Edon is here. I saw him this morning. He could rejoin the pro group as soon as Monday.” Honestly, who would have bet on that a month ago?

A steep price and a calm French market

Let's be honest: LOSC set the bar at 20 million euros for a potential transfer. For our OM, with the finances we know this year, it's not exactly a bargain... And apparently, no French club has really pushed forward in the matter, according to Létang. Do you believe in this total absence of contacts? Or is it just communication to drive up the price? Tell us in the comments!

Surprise extension or last-minute twist?

Another bit of info dropped by the Lille boss: a contract extension is not out of the question if Zhegrova shows the right mindset. A turn of events that could frustrate quite a few Marseille supporters, right? But at the same time, should we put all our chips on this profile, who's coming off a complicated season with quite a few physical setbacks? At 26 years old, he's still interesting, but the risk is there, especially at that rate.

What do we do, Olympians?

For you, friends, should OM keep insisting on Zhegrova or shift focus to find another winger? Should we break the bank for a player with this kind of track record, or wait for a more realistic opportunity? Come debate with us in the comments, we want your opinions!
