OM ready for the new season: current analysis and debates

European ambition, newfound stability, bold tactical choices: OM kicks off its season with the desire to make an impression. Ready to cheer, supporters?

Reporter

That's it, the season is fast approaching and we can already feel the excitement building around our OM. After a serious preparation and the first lessons from friendly matches, it is time to ask the real questions: where is the team, what to think of De Zerbi's choices and above all, how to approach this transfer window that has us all mulling over?

Jonathan Rowe: sell or keep?

We're hearing all sorts of things about Jonathan Rowe's future these days. Do you believe the rumor of a departure around €20-25 million? Frankly, it would be quite a mistake to let him go now. The guy is on the rise, he has the coach's trust and, in the Champions League, his value could skyrocket. Unless he demands to leave, I don't see why we would sell a guy like that, especially with De Zerbi's offensive rotation. Let's discuss: would you let him go at that price?

Transfer window and adjustments: priority to defense, but not at any price

On the reinforcement side, everyone wants to see Ordoñez arrive in central defense. But Babou summed it up well: no question of sacrificing a starter to finance it. We have to be smart! With Medina on the left, Balerdi and (maybe) Ordoñez in the center, we would have a solid base. The problem is the left-back position after Merlin's departure. Without a reliable wing-back to balance with Weah on the other side, things could quickly get stuck. In your opinion, should we break the bank for the right profile or wait for an opportunity?

The midfield: young players to polish, need for a leader?

The midfield is a real topic of discussion. If Rabiot, Højbjerg, or Gomes gets injured or red-carded, we'll see young Bakola and Nadir step in. That's exciting, but relying on them all at once is risky. Babou is right: we need to integrate them gradually, not burn them out. Interested in an experienced reinforcement without breaking the budget?

Rabiot, the all-rounder but...

We feel that Rabiot is reaching a new level under De Zerbi, particularly in pressing and advancing. But against low blocks, we might be lacking a bit of offensive flair. His strength is certain, but who will bring that little extra creativity needed to break down a compact defense? Who do you see in this role?

A united group, real ambitions

What's striking is that we finally have stability. All the players want to leave their mark and the team grows stronger with each match. With this momentum, we can aim for the top 2, my friends, and thrill the Vel’ all year long. It's your turn: who do you see as our best surprise this season? What are your expectations for the rest of the transfer window? Share your opinions in the comments, let's discuss!
