Marseille transfer news: Ceballos wants a move to Marseille, but Real Madrid are still blocking!

Ceballos has said yes to Marseille, dreams of the 2026 World Cup, but Real Madrid are demanding €15m in cash and a replacement before releasing him. Deal stalled, patience required!

What a saga! Dani Ceballos has clearly expressed his desire to join our OM. Fabrizio Romano confirms: the Spaniard has given the green light and believes in the Marseille project, motivated by a starting spot to prepare for the 2026 World Cup. But as always with Real Madrid, nothing is simple...

Alonso’s veto and the €15m threshold

According to Cadena SER and The Athletic, Xabi Alonso is blocking any idea of a loan. For him, Ceballos remains a useful piece in his rotation. As a result, Real are demanding an outright transfer between €12m and €15m, even up to €20m according to some Spanish sources. And that’s not all: the Merengue club want to sign a replacement before letting go of their 29-year-old midfielder. A double condition that complicates everything.

OM–Real: talks still open

Despite this wall, Longoria and Benatia are pressing on. OM have proposed a loan with an option (or even obligation) to buy for around €10–12m, plus a salary estimated at €7m per year for the player. Enough to entice Ceballos, but still not enough to convince Madrid. At the same time, OM are also talking to Benfica about Florentino Luis, proof that the management is keeping other avenues alive.

A World Cup dream, time pressure

What really drives Ceballos is his desire to play again and convince Luis de la Fuente to take him to the 2026 World Cup. In Madrid, he’s had only 75 minutes since the start of the season. At OM, De Zerbi would offer him a key role in a rebuilding midfield. But if Real dig in, the Spaniard risks being stuck at the Bernabéu.

What if Rabiot entered the equation?

A rumor mentions the idea of including Adrien Rabiot in a possible deal, to help smooth the negotiations and unlock the situation. For now, nothing concrete, but the idea is out there... and in this crazy transfer window, anything can happen until the very last day.

The question for us fans

So, friends: should we put down €15m cash for Ceballos, at the risk of crippling our budget? Wait for Real to sign a replacement and hope it opens up? Or go for Florentino Luis and other less costly options? Your opinions matter — let’s debate together in the comments!
