OM transfer: OM–Juve duel for Zhegrova, Lille plays with money time
Agreement on the player side, not with Lille: Juve are also negotiating and could accelerate depending on the Nico González-to-Atlético move. It’s on Marseille to act now—and to anticipate a potential Greenwood departure.
Edon Zhegrova has chosen OM and has already agreed to a long-term deal. The hardest part remains: reaching an agreement with LOSC. At the same time, Juventus have entered club-to-club talks with Lille; and if Nico González does head to Atlético, the Turin side could pounce on Zhegrova. In other words: the window is narrowing, and the competition is rising.
Why Marseille need to get it done now
On the pitch, Zhegrova fits Roberto De Zerbi’s project: driving runs, 1v1 ability, creativity, a left foot that breaks lines, the ability to play on either flank and cut inside to open passing or shooting angles. It’s exactly the profile that’s missing to unlock low blocks in Ligue 1 and add a constant threat around Greenwood, Paixão and Traoré.
Strategically, it’s also a pre-emptive move: if Mason Greenwood is heavily courted next summer, OM will already have secured a potential starter in the position, without starting from scratch. You add depth, protect the future, and ease the pressure on Nadir, Weah and the other young attackers.
The LOSC side of the deal
Olivier Létang has raised his voice publicly, but the message remains clear: a departure is possible if all parties are satisfied. Lille want an offer to match (we’re talking about a package around €15m + bonuses), OM are moving forward with a controlled structure and reasonable add-ons. Nothing irregular here: Marseille have made contact with the player in line with customary practice, and Zhegrova has formally expressed his desire to join the Vélodrome.
The outcome? Down to determination
Timing matters: the longer they wait, the more latitude Juve will have. If Marseille lock things up quickly with LOSC, it’s a major reinforcement for De Zerbi this season… and a winning bet for next summer. It’s up to the board to finish the job: wrap it up, medical, signature, and make the Vél’ roar.
Team OM, are we on board? Zhegrova to light it up right away… and prepare for the post-Greenwood era: strategic move or just a luxury? Your move in the comments!
